This is the fifth edition of the Ontario Drinking Water Objectives. While most of the objectives listed are adopted from the Canadian Drinking Water Guidelines, the Province of Ontario has set some unique aesthetic objectives for colour, dissolved organic carbon, sulphates and methane. The primary purpose of the Ontario Drinking Water Standards, Objectives and Guidelines is to provide information for the protection of public health through the provision of safe drinking water. Water should also be aesthetically acceptable and palatable.
